My partner and I love to cook, so when friends and family travel abroad they love to bring back interesting ingredients for us to try. Unfortunately, we don’t know where to begin with these jarred substances.
On the left is a green relish that my parents say was used on absolutely everything in Istanbul; a label on the top says “Biber Evi,” which is the name of the hotel where they stayed and hopefully also a clue as to what’s inside (it translates as “chili house”). On the right is “Mermelada de Guayaba” (guava jam) from Mexico; we’ve been putting it on toast, but perhaps there’s something more adventurous we could try.
Any help is much appreciated!
